Junkyards and Pic-a-part yards can be great places to start a project or replace broken parts for cheap. Las Vegas Has only a few places in town to do this, and I visit them regularly to find parts for projects.
You can find every car made, but the popular models get stripped clean as soon as they arrive. Most lots will separate the brands making it easy to find what your looking for. Just bring what ever tools you need and plenty of water to drink.
It’s odd to see a car that is rare and prized in the junk yard. This SE-R Sentra is loved by autocross racers and a well setup one can do very well.
I get jealous of the Nissan guys, because their best four cylinder motor is plenty-full in Vegas and no one ever strips them like the Honda camp. Try to find a B18C in a junkyard is like finding a diamond.
I want my next project to be rear wheel drive. what better than an Nissan 240sx( s13) but the silvia conversion has be beaten to death so might look for something else.
The junk yard can be a great place to get turbo for cheap. Almost all the Volvo and Mercedes diesels use turbos. You can buy one from the junk yard for $50 bucks and rebuild it for $200 and have a turbo as good as new. This T3 turbo is good on a Honda for 300hp and the market has lots of choices for manifolds.
Another thing to look for are suv’s with a tow package. The tow package will come with a transmission cooler that can be adapted to any race car for far less than any shop will charge. Look for oil coolers as well.
If you already have a 240sx a cheap way to go to the better 5 lug setup is to use the front spindles from a 300zx. They bolt right on and give you the ability to use larger brakes.
These great seats. The where nicely bolstered and felt great. The inset color wasn’t my first choice but for such a cheap price i could live with it or get them reupholstered.
One project I would love is a Toyota Cressida wagon. It’s rear wheel drive and can fit a 2jz into it’s engine bay. Maybe put a 1uzfe from an LS400 in it and dump it on some bags and call it a day. what do ya think?
