The Honda Challenge race is next week at the Chuckwalla Race track In California. I wanted to update on a few items that have been added to the car before the race.
The Integra has had a Buddy Club 1 piece bucket seat for awhile now but relied on the factory seat belt for restraint. I installed a 5 point harness using the factory mounting points and the roll bar.
The belts from G force came with mounting hardware, I chose grade 8 bolts for the piece of mind that the bolts won’t break in an accident.
The proper way to harness the belts is to use a triple loop method. the belt is run through the lock 3 times to ensure no slippage.
Zip ties are used to wrap the excess belt.
The submarine belt is bolted to the floor with a grade 8 bolt and uses a regulation plate as a backer. This plate is 2 x 2 inches and a must to pass a safety inspection. The plate was sealed with 3M weather proofing sealer.
The top of the roll bar is a place that some people say needs to have padding. my understanding is that any place your head can hit should be covered, my head could never reach this bar, as it is behind the seat. I bought a piece just to make sure I didn’t have a problem with any strict safety inspector.
A fire extinguisher is something I should have never raced with out before, but now I won’t have to worry about watching my car burn while waiting for the fire department to arrive.
The last thing to do before the race is to change the brake fluid and bleed the brakes. I love Motul brake fluid and have never had a problem(just in case they want to send a free case)
I will update with all the results from the race next week.
