It’s that time of year again. The Sema show is held in my home town so that makes it very easy to attend it every year. Just like last year I selected the vehicles I found interesting, this is far from everything to see at the show, but to show everything would overwhelm people. The Golf pictured above looked ordinary until I looked in the trunk.
The monster turbo is the first thing you see, it is connected to a Audi S4 v6. I’m not sure what transmission is being used but it looked like a g50 from a Porsche 911. If someone knows write it in the comments below.
Nakai San of RWB was at it again this year, and brought this creation called Catalina. One thing I noticed with his cars is the interior is never as nice as the exterior. This one looked like a beat up 911 with about 200k miles on the inside, but I guess if it looks this good on the outside who cares.
Jaguar has been making steps toward creating a more sporting brand. This XKR-S GT is one very big leap forward. The engine is still stock from the 550 hp XKR but where the $174,000 comes to play is in the suspension, and chassis tuning. There will only be 25 heading to the US so don’t expect to see these too often.
The big talk before the show was of the Liberty Walk company showing off its two newest products. The first one is a wide body kit for the GTR, this $15,000 kit was shipped to America and built on a car in California so we know it will fit. The front fenders will swallow 285 series tire and the rears can house 315 series barrels. They will have kits available after the new year.
I know I show a lot of RWB cars but I have been itching to buy a 964 Porsche 911 and once I saw this one I had to include it. The thought of rolling this down Las Vegas Blvd makes me happy every time I think about it.
I have never seen a Holden Maloo in person, now I can check that off my bucket list. Tell me you would much rather rock this than a Silverado pick up truck.
I would rather have the older SLR Mercedes than the newer SLS, and this Renntech upgraded 722 model with full carbon fiber front end really closed the deal on that choice.
One car that really stood out to me was this Mustang/ Ford GT combo. the engine and chassis is a 2005 Ford GT with a 1969 Mach 1 body on top of it. The car is two inches wider on both sides than a Mach 1 and the roof is two inches lower. The whole build took 3 years and really combined all the best parts of both cars.
I saw Sami Hubinette win a Formula Drift championship in this car about 10 years ago, Dean Kearney is driving it now and the team added a supercharger to it to be competitive. Who would have thought 10 years ago that a viper wasn’t fast enough to drift in?
This SLS is entered in the Optima battery street car challenge, the owner added a Kleemann supercharger and full exhaust, I hope it is enough to over throw the usual classic American cars to win.
I know another 964 chassis 911 but at least this one isn’t a RWB creation. I cant help but think of the Wangan Midnight comic series, and the car they called Black Bird when I see this.
This Starion was also entered in the street car challenge, except it brought out the big guns in the form of a swapped LS V8. The interior was custom built to set the engine as far back as possible and move the fire wall back. The race is held at the Spring Mountain track on Saturday.
This was a real piece of art ,it is a 1954 GMC truck built in 10 days. It has been bagged on 20’s with a dual rear end.
The motor is a single turbo Cummins 6 BT built to about 450hp. I thought it was interesting that the intercooler was placed in the rear and they used all that piping.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post
